A proposal for a community hall was made to the 1953 Coronation Committee in the January of that year

In May 1953, while the hall was under construction, the gardens were officially opened to the public.

The Druitt Hall was opened on 3rd June 1953.

The Royal British Legion presented the clock still in use today inside the hall.
The plaque which record the opening of The Druitt Hall is still displayed in the hall's entrance lobby.
